Mission Overview:

Supported by CanExport Associations funding, the Smart Grid Innovation Network Canada (SGIN) is collaborating with the High Commission of Canada, the Government of the Bahamas, and Canadian energy companies/ stakeholders on the CANADA-BAHAMAS INNOVATION TRADE MISSION.

This is a unique opportunity for a select group of organizations to showcase their capabilities and solutions to an international audience made up of key decision-makers and professionals in Nassau, The Bahamas. SGIN delegates will have the opportunity to participate in networking events, discussions with local business people and to engage with senior Canadian and Bahamian government officials.

Mission Details:

  • Dates: February 24 to February 28, 2025

  • Showcase Canadian companies’ expertise and capabilities to foster international business opportunities.
  • Partner and prospect identification (identify potential clients or partners, establish business and/or research connections.
  • Knowledge gathering (engage with opportunities and share learnings, strengthen relationships).
  • Market research (identify potential opportunities, market dynamics, competition, risks associated with new business environment).
  • Relationship building (B2B meetings/networking events with potential partners/clients, explore new relationship opportunities).

In addition to the services offered by the Trade Commissioner Service. (networking opportunities with Bahamian business and government leaders, market briefings/overviews and/or roundtables with Trade Commissioners, Bahamian industry representative, and senior government officials, pre-arranged business to business (B2B) meetings).

*Travel reimbursement is currently available for delegates that qualify under the CanExport Association criteria, and are SGIN Members: 

  • Must represent SMEs, and/or Indigenous-led businesses and/or represent academi
  • CanExport Associations SME Definition:
    • Be for-profit
    • Be an incorporated legal entity, limited liability partnership (LLP) or cooperative in Canada
    • Have a Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) business number*
    • Have fewer than 500 full-time equivalent (FTE) employee
    • Have $100,000 to $100 million in annual revenue declared in Canada during its last complete tax reporting year (or during the last 12 months for monthly and quarterly filers
    • The CanExport Associations funding would cover:
      • Up to 50% back on airfare (economy)
      • Up to 50% back on daily per diems (max $200 per day)

The registration fee for this mission is $650 CDN per organization. The deadline to express interest is Jan. 14th 2025.

  • Step 1: Submit Expression of Interest Form
    • Fill out the online Expression of Interest (EOI) form to indicate your interest in participating in the mission. 
  • Step 2: Confirmation of Interest
    • SGIN will contact you to confirm receipt of your EOI and address any questions you may have. 
  • Step 3: Complete Delegate Fee Payment
    • Once any questions have been addressed, we will send you your Delegate Fee Invoice. Your organization will submit the delegate fee of $650 CDN via one of the following payment methods:
      • EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer)
      • E-transfer
      • PayPal
  • Step 4: Payment Confirmation
    • SGIN will confirm payment was received and share onboarding information.
